This laminated (maru) high carbon steel katana is clay tempered: the edge is hardened to HRC 58 while the spine stays at HRC 45 to absorb shock. It's sharp out of the box.

It's for people who care how a blade is made. It also photographs well. We checked.

Blade & intended use

Functional sharp blade – 1095 high carbon steel, clay tempered. This sword ships with a live edge and is intended for experienced adult collectors and practitioners. Adults 18+ only. Please check your local laws before purchasing, and always handle, store and transport it with care.

Care: wipe the blade after handling and keep a light coat of oil on it to prevent rust.

Sold as a decorative display piece. Intended for display and collection only.
